TOEICー5ࣩ˻TOEIC850á905ê𪷪YUKI֪体験ͱǪ
߰(5) 850 905 Yuki ı

Hello, everyone!! My name is YUKI. Im university student. I studied English and Chinese in C&C for 7 weeks. I want to write about my experiences in C&C. I will write so many sentences from now. Maybe, you can easily know how much I wrote by just glancing at the sentences below. Im quite sure that you will be tired of reading all the sentences because its too much and, to be honest, its not a sort of one that is exciting to read. Rather it can be boring one. Anyway, Im planning to write mainly about 3 topics.
First topic will be about the reason why I chose C&C and why C&C is so good a place to study English. In second topic, I will talk about the TOEIC course. As for third topic, Im planning to write about the Chinese course which makes C&C special language school.

To start with, I want to talk about the reason why I chose C&C. I was looking for the language school that offers TOEIC course. There are several language schools that meet this condition, but C&C is the only language school that has Chinese class. In addition, C&C is located in ILOILO city where it is famous for its safety. In ILOILO, there are not so many places like night club, bar or the other amusement facilities which is good for the people who wants just enjoy life in Philippines, but not good for a student like me who just wants to focus on studying. I heard a story from the friend who studied in a language school in the center of Cebu island which is famous for a lot of facilities as I mentioned before. He told me that he fully enjoyed his life there, but didnt studied hard because of too many distractions. Of course, it depends on the ones willpower. You can study anywhere if you have a strong desire to study and vice versa, but, actually it is really tough to study hard in such a place where there are many distractions. Especially in Philippines, compared with Japan, Korean, or China, the price of the almost all things is so low that you can enjoy as you want at small cost. So it will surely make it difficult to study diligently in such a place like Cebu island. I think Im digressing a little. At any rate, thats the main reason why I decided to study at C&C in ILOILO city.

In following 4 paragraphs, I want to let you know about the TOEIC course. This course offers 7 hours a day and is composed of 4 different kind of fields, which are Listening class, Grammar class, Reading class and Speaking class. You can study everything which is enough to boost your TOEIC score and you can arrange these classes depending on your weak points or what you want to study. In my case, I had one speaking class, one reading class, one grammar class and 3 listening classes because the point I regarded as weak was listening.

Firstly, I want to talk about the speaking class. In this class, I used the text which is for the candidate who wants to take the TOEIC speaking test. In my case, I didnt have intention of taking such a test, but I decided to take this class because I thought it was not enough just to get the good score on TOEIC test. In class, the teacher shows you a certain kind of pictures which describe various sort of situations like the picture in supermarket, shop, street and so on and I have to explain the situation within a limited time. For example, you have to explain what the people in picture are doing, where the buildings are located. At first, I thought depicting like this is not so helpful to improve my score on the TOEIC test, but later I realized its really helpful to solve the listening questions in part1 because ,as you may know, on part1, you have to choose the correct sentence which explain the situation in a proper way. So thank to the training in this class, it became much easier for me to predict what the speaker is going to say next.

Secondly, I want to speak what I learned in reading class. As for reading, my problem is not the ability to read correctly, but the speed of reading. I think among the candidates for TOEIC test, there are so many people who cannot finish all the questions in reading section within a limited time. I was one of them before I took this reading class. In this reading class, I learned the skill to finish all the questions in a time limit from the teacher. Before I had this class, every time I took the TOEIC test, I tried to read all the sentences to fully understand the contents and to answer questions in a correct way. The teacher didnt allow me to read all the sentences and instead of that she taught me how to find the important information which is needed to answer a lot of questions within a limited time. The way he taught me is like this. First, she told me the formats of various kinds of styles because in TOEIC test, you have to read almost all kind of styles which you will meet in business world like e-mail, letter, advertisement ,notice, article and so on. Each style has its own way of developing and once you are used to these kind of styles, it will be much more easier to read correctly and you can read the sentences much faster than you do without knowing these sort of knowledge. After I acquired these knowledge which, I think, is necessary to answer speedily and trained repeatedly while abiding by the guideline my teacher taught me, I became able to answer correctly and speedily. When I finished this class, reading section became my strong point.

Thirdly, I want to let you know about the grammar class. In this class, I answered pre-TOEIC style test almost every day. The teacher gave me a limit time and I had to answer within that time. It was much more difficult to finish all the questions than I had expected. Before I took this grammar class, I though grammar was not my weak point, but later I realized the idea was wrong. Thanks to this class, I found a lot of weak points in grammar and could overcome these problems. When I made grammatical mistakes, the teacher, who have been teaching TOEIC for almost 8 years, taught me concisely not only why this option is correct but also why the other options are incorrect from the grammatical point of view. When I made mistakes in wording, she taught me the other kind of expressions which are related the right answer and often and repeatedly questioned in TOEIC test. I think my teacher in this grammar class and listening class, whose name is Odette, is so experienced in teaching TOEIC that you can fully rely on her. Im quite sure that just following what she tells you to do makes your English better.  It is very important to get the correct answers in almost all questions on the part 5 and 6 if you want to very good scores on reading part. Before I took this grammar class, I always made several mistakes in grammar and warding, by the time I finished this class, I made fewer and fewer mistakes in both part 5 and part 6.

As for TOEIC course, lastly, Im going to refer to the listening class. In my case, as I told you before, I had 3 listening classes. In one class, I mainly studied part 2. In part 2, unlike the other parts, there is no script-x which can be a great help to solve the questions. Therefore, we have to improve our pure listening skill to get a good score in this section.
One of my friends, who studied in the United States and has quite a good listening ability, told me that this section is really easy for the people like him who study abroad or live in countries whose mother tongue is English for a long time. For most of the people, however, like me who dont have such experiences, the part 2 which requires pure listening skill is likely to be a weak point. In class, the teacher gave me a lot of pre-tests and I tenaciously solved those questions almost every day. The teacher, at the same time, gave us a lot of helpful tips like many kinds of idioms and vocabularies which are often and repeatedly questioned in part 2 and how to guess the answer when you cannot catch all the words because, in this section, you might get the correct answer if you can catch the most important words to answer. As I grappled with those questions almost every day and became familiar with the expressions, my score was getting better and better.  In other 2 classes, I mainly studied part 3 and part 4. In these sections, unlike part 2, there is script-x and this script-x is not so short and easy one to fully get the meaning in so short a time. Therefore, we have to boost our ability not only to listen but also read speedily and guess what the speaker is going to say next. In addition, those sections require you to concentrate well because, as you may know, in listening section, there is no time to take a rest and, the right before part 3 and part 4, it is the part 2 that really needs the your power of concentration. Therefore, whether you can get a good score or not in those sections depends partly on how well you can concentrate. In classes, the teacher, as she did in part 2, taught me a lot of useful information. For example, she gave me information about several situations like in airport, shop, business and so on which you can meet in part 3 and 4. I always tried to grapple with the questions as if I really did in a actual test and gradually became familiar with the questions.

Next, Im going to let you know about Chinese class. I studied in this class for 5 weeks. I studied Chinese in my university for almost 2 years, but my level was poor. So I decided to take basic class. There are 3 kinds of classes, basic class, intermediate class and free conversational class and there is just one teacher, but, of course, the teacher is Chinese and experienced enough because she has been teaching Chinese for several years. Though the content of the text book is not difficult ,it was much tougher than I had expected because basically its not allowed to use other language expect Chinese. Of course, when you cant understand what the teacher says, she can make you understood by using English or if you are Korean, by using Korean. In class, first, you study new word and the teacher will check how well you pronounce and she carefully correct your mispronunciation. Then, you study new expressions which you will find in the text and check the exact meaning with the teacher. She is kind and gentle enough to teach you tenaciously even if you are beginner and too basic to express yourself by using just Chinese. Actually, my level was so poor that she always kindly taught me by using English. So I want you to try this Chinese course if you have a little intention of studying Chinese because, as far as I know, it is only C&C that offers Chinese course.

In the end, again, I want to say about the good points of C&C. As I have already written too much, I want to talk about only the one strong point among many strong points of C&C. That is diversity. C&C is diverse in many points. C&C offers various kinds of courses. You can learn whatever you want to. In C&C, unlike the other language schools, there are a lot of students from countries like Japan, Korean, china, Taiwan and so on. There are many excellent teachers who have unique background. Im quite sure you can enjoy their classes and you cant be bored. You can learn and experience a lot of things and will meet a lot of unique people and can be friends with them in C&C. I hope you will choose C&C among many language schools. I wish your success in C&C. Thank you for reading.
