Danao City

 

 

-->  is a 3rd class city in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 119,252 people.

  

  

In 2005, Metro Cebu's definition was expanded to include Danao City, a leader in the gun  industry, in the north and the municipalities of San Fernando and Carcar in the south.

Gun industry in Danao

 

Danao City is well known for its gun industry. The industry started around 1905-1906.  

  When World War II came, the Danao gunsmiths went underground, joined the guerrilla movement or were inducted into the USAFFE.

  

Their main task was to re-chamber the Japanese Arisaka rifles to fit the US .30 caliber round or to keep the original Japanese rifle in good service.

Division of Danao City was created and started its operation in SY 1962 - 1963, a year after Dana

 

o became a chartered city. The first appointed superintendent of the Division was the late Mr. Leo

 

cadio Momongan.

 

When Mr. Momongan retired from office, the late Mr. Esteban Ypil – academic supervisor in English,

 

assumed the office as OIC. Later, the late Mr. Catalino de Lana was appointed as the second Scho

 

ols Division Superintendent..

 

DANAO CITY FISH PORT AND MARKET

 

Situated along the National Highway in Poblacion where the commercial fishing operators, operates a fish landing in this fish port daily. The smell of freshly-grilled fish will invite to stop and savor the delicious taste of "SUTUKIL" -Sugba,Tula,Kinilaw-Broiled Fish, Fish Tinola and Fish Salad by the sea.
