온타리오 ID 카드가 생겼기 때문에 드디어 거주지 인증을 할 수 있어 오늘은 도서관에 가서 도서관 카드를 만들었어요. 도서관 카드가 있으면 당연히 책도 빌릴 수 있고 도서관 내에 있는 컴퓨터나 복사기를 사용할 수 있습니다. 물론 복사할 때에는 장당 돈을 내야 하는 걸로 알고 있어요.

가장 먼저 들어가면 들어갈 때 왼쪽에 바로 카운터 같은 곳이 있는데, 거기로 가서 카드를 만들고 싶다고 하면 신분증을 보여달라고 해요. 저는 아이디 카드 보여줬더니 바로 종이를 주셨고, 종이 작성해서 제출하면 바로 카드를 그 자리에서 받을 수 있습니다.

카드는 1년 유효기간이 있어서 기간이 지나면 신분증 다시 들고 방문해서 연장해야 한다고 해요. 아이디 카드에 주소도 있어서 따로 다른 걸 요구받지는 않았고, 컴퓨터 등을 사용할 때에는 종이에 작성한 휴대전화 번호 뒷자리가 고유 번호? 처럼 쓰인다고 들었습니다.

생각보다 발급받기가 엄청 간단하고 시간도 안 걸렸어요. 책 대여 기간을 못 물어봤는데 아마 21일 정도로 엄청 길다고 들었고, 토론토 내에 있는 TPL 라면 장소 상관없이 다 빌리고 반납할 수 있다고 들어 엄청 편하다는 생각이 듭니다. TPL은 진짜 어디를 가도 있기 때문에... 오늘은 만들기만 했지만 다음에는 바로 책 빌려 보려고요.
