''HONESTO''
The first trailer for the new primetime offering of ABS-CBN,
"Honesto," traces the roots of the title character to a remote
village where lying prompts an "allergic reaction."
The two-minute preview for the Dreamscape Entertainment
Television production was released online Monday,
and premiered on television during
"Juan dela Cruz" on primetime Tuesday.
"Honesto," whose lead child actor and creative team have
yet to be officially introduced, will debut on Monday,
October 28, during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.
Early teasers of the program dubbed
"Ang teleseryeng napapanahon"
("The timely TV series") show Honesto, a child,
forced to lie in different situations.
This triggers his nose to become bulbous
and bright red, and only returns to normal
once he tells the truth.
In the first extended preview of the series,
three men including Diego
(Nonie Buencamino, Joel Torre, Paulo Avelino, respectively)
are seen stumbling upon a self-sustaining village in the woods.
Their motive of robbing its people and discovering
village secret is revealed, however, with Diego
attempting to woo Vina (Maricar Reyes),
the chieftain's (Spanky Manikan) daughter.
In the process of adjusting to life in Sitio
Katapatan, Diego and his friends find out
that the natives' noses grow red and large
when they lie. This becomes Vina's downfall
in initially denying her feelings for Diego.
With the true motive of Diego's group revealed,
the chieftain drives them out of the village.
But a pregnant Vina, who professes her love
for Diego, will not have it and so takes off to find him.
The search appears to be in vain, however,
as she is shown giving birth, alone,
to a son she names Honesto.
Following in the tradition of ABS-CBN's
inspirational series, such as
"May Bukas Pa" and "100 Days to Heaven,"
"Honesto" is expected to replace
"Juan dela Cruz" in its timeslot starting Monday.
