Rosquillos, a cookie with a hole at the center resembling a donut, is a concoction of Titay's, a famous stop-over of tourists in the municipality of Lilo-an in Cebu. It is a distinctive snack, unique to Cebu. With ingredients that include flour, egg, sugar, shortening and baking powder, Rosquillos is a simple food product but it is only in Liloan that one can savor its best quality.

 

Titay's has made this delicious Rosquillos from the zealously guarded secret recipe of Margarita "Na Titay" Frasco since 1907.

 


 

 

Descendants of the Frasco clan relate how, more than a century ago, the then 21 year old Margarita Frasco got bored and started to experiment. With her baking ingredients, a wooden eggbeater, some baking tins and a clay oven, little did she knew that she was making a world renowned product that will later be highly associated with Liloan.

Titay first offered the snack as giveaways for every purchase of a bottle of soda. These cookies remained unidentified until Sergio Osmena, once the Cebu governor and Philippine president visited Liloan and baptized it as "Rosquillos" in reference to the Spanish word rosca.

 

 

 

Since then Titay's Rosquillos has become a favorite snack of Cebuanos here and abroad.

Since the introduction of the Rosquillos Festival in 2008, Titay's Rosquillos has further widened its market and is now known to local and foreign tourists. It is currently available in some Filipino stores worldwide.In 2005, Titay's was given the National Shoppers Choice award for excellence in product quality, company reputation, brand recognition and customer service. In the same year, it was recognized for its best marketing practices leading towards marketing dominance, goodwill and high-level customer confidence and market acceptability.

 


 

 

In 2007, Gerardo "Dodong Gamay" B. Frasco Jr., the heir currently running the business, received from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry the Countryside Enterprise of the Year Award.

 

 

 

Today, Titay's offers not just rosquillos but also an enticing array of sweets and delicacies such as the otap, galletas de bato, galletas del Carmen, benangkal, caycay, mammon, hojaldres, ensaymada, penato, masi, polvoron, sinudlan, torta, breads and savories such as chicken pork adobo, elorde, margarita, pan de leche, pan de sal, cheese bread, whole wheat bread and monay.
