MANILA, Philippines - An eight-year-old girl as she tried to retrieve her slippers that into a river in Quezon City late Tuesday, a radio report said early Wednesday.

Radio dzBB reported that the body of eight-year-old Aminola Lumbrada was recovered Tuesday night, hours after she tripped over into the Tumana River shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigation showed the girl was playing near her house at Bagong Silang village when her slipper fell into the river.

* This news makes me sad. Just because of the slippers, this young girl drowned. It's makes me realize that each  parent must be aware of what their children are doing. She's still a minor, and definately she should have someone older to watch over her. *
