China has told US software giant to reconsider controversial new anti-piracy tools that cause computer screen to turn black if a pirated program is identified state media reported.
"Whether the black-out method should be adopted is open to question said Yan Xiaohong, vice director of the National Copyright Administration". Yan was speaking after Microsoft rolled out it's Windows Genuine Advantage programs, which turns computer desktops black every hour if the installed Windows XP operating system fails an authenticity validation test.
The move has caused an outcry among Chinese users, who have branded it as "unfair" monopoly tactics to make average Chinese pay prices that are far too high for average incomes, earlier state media reports said.
However, Microsoft defended the "black screen" action as a legal move meant to protect it's copyright, adding it has recent years set certain product prices at competitive levels that Chinese can afford. In addition to that Microsoft said that there were already many products that they produce but being pirated by Chinese in a low price that makes people not buy for the genuine one.
I guess this new product of Microsoft will be a hit to all those who are using computers and experience hassle because of always scanning to avoid those virus program in the computer. It is really helpful because you don't have to scan the program before opening it, instead the computer will automatically black out when there's a virus being detected. But sad to say that having one that is genuine is really expensive specially because this is a new product. And for sure not all will be able to have this product.
