This is one of the places in the islands of Cebu, Philippines that keeps its natural environment. After a long winding travel along the mountain ranges of Cebu, reaching the town proper of Tuburan was a sight to behold. The town projects serenity and calmness. Then, taking another tricycle ride, about 2.5 km outside the town proper, the spring waters was another sight to admire!! The spring water flows directly to the sea of Tuburan coast. The coolness of the spring water gives a refreshing feeling to the warmth surrounding. The people of Tuburan, Cebu knows very well the importance of keeping nature intact so that visitors of their place will have one place to go and enjoy. The sea water is so clear and blue with the coastal view of green plants adding to the natural setting. . . In spite of the noontime heat of the sun, the cool water of the springs is overwhelmingly giving the feeling of coolness.
Tuburan is a 2 hour drive from the city of Cebu via transcentral highway, there are vans for hire in Ayala Terminal that will take you to where my hometown is. This is the fastest public transportation at 140 pesos per person. There are also buses in both North and South terminal but it takes around 3-4 hours with not much difference on the fare. I suggest taking the van not only because it takes less hours but the view via transcentral highway is nature at its best. Green scenery, mountains, fresh cold air and fog (even when the sun is out).
The water from the spring goes through pipes under the pool and it flows out to the sea. When it has been raining for a few days you immediately notice that the water turns yellowish due to the soft soil from the mountains.
There are 2 pools in the area, the bigger one which i think is more than 7 feet deep while the smaller pool is designed for kids. What makes the cold spring water colder are the trees that looked like blanket on top covering the pool from the rays of the sun. And one thing you should try is staying on the area where cold water meets sea water, it’s just fun.
