Have you ever wondered why in every occasion of Filipino gatherings, what completes
the food offering is the crunchy and tasty inasal? No one can ignore the tempting
crispy brown skin and the sumptuous tasty meat of roast pig. Indeed, inasal
or lechon has become a tradition for Filipinos. It is usually served during
celebrations like graduations, birthdays and especially fiestas. In Cebu island,
one of its cities do not just serve inasal during fiestas but has made the local
delicacy a much bigger part of its annual festival tradition. Talisays Halad-Inasal
Festival on the 14th and 15th October is held in honor of the patroness, Sta.
Theresa de Avila, showcasing the inasal in colorful and creative costumes.
Inasal or lechon in Cebu is a roasted pig whose tastiness
and crispy skin don't need sauce to perk up its herb-enhanced
flavors. And Talisay is the capital of this favorite centerpiece
of the Filipino fiesta table.
Aside from the street parade and dance competition, the Halad Inasal
Festival will also feature a festival queen competition.
