HOTDOG EATING GAME
Kobayashi Will Compete In Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest Via Satellite
On the other side of that token, watching grown ass men and women (who are
dressed like generic super heroes) shove hot dogs down their throats as they
dip the buns in water to help grease them down their throats easier. At the end
of the contest they all look spent; like theyve just gotten off a 30 hour sit
down on the couch, eat hella chips and watch NFL games marathon. Its
as if they found the anti-youth cure as you see them age 5 years
right in front of your eyes.
The Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest has been held
at Nathan's Famous on the corner of Surf and Stillwell avenues in
Coney Island each year since 1916
Joey Chestnut of San Jose, California, is the latest champion to win the Nathans Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest, downing 54 dogs and buns in a matter of minutes to take the 2010 Mustard Belt. It was Chestnut's fourth consecutive win in recent years. |

Unable to compete in yesterdays Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest,
Japans legendary Takeru Kobayashi took to a rooftop bar in Manhattan
and scarfed hot dogs simultaneously with the eaters in Brooklyn."
In the end, he ate 69 dogs. One more than his mortal enemy Joey
Chestnuts 2009 world record.
nathans famous hot dog eating contest
The original Nathan's hot dog stand will remain the venue for this year's
hot dog-eating contest on July 4. For the last two years Joey Chestnut
has beat six-time champion, and his arch rival, Takeru Kobayashi. But
to clarify, last year was especially close. After they tied at 59 frankfurters
in 10 minutes, there was a five-dog overtime! Whoever could shove all
five in their mouths the fastest, won.
RULES
The field of about 20 contestants typically includes the following:
The competitors stand on a raised platform behind a long table
with drinks and Nathan's Famous hot dogs in buns. Most contestants
have water on hand, but other kinds of drinks can and have been used.
Condiments are allowed, but are usually not used. The hot dogs are
allowed to cool slightly after grilling to prevent possible mouth burns.
The contestant that consumes (and keeps down) the most hot dogs
and buns (HDB) in ten minutes is declared the winner. The length of
the contest has changed over the years, previously 12 minutes, and
in some years, only three and a half minutes.
Spectators watch and cheer the eaters on from close proximity. A designated
scorekeeper is paired with each contestant, flipping a number board
counting each hot dog consumed. Partially eaten hot dogs count and
the granularity of measurement is eighths of a length. Hot dogs still
in the mouth at the end of regulation count if they are subsequently
swallowed. Yellow penalty cards can be issued for "messy eating
,"[1] and disqualification can occur for "reversal of fortune."[1]
After the winner is declared, a plate showing the number of
hot dogs eaten by the winner is brought out for photo opportunities.
