JOVEN'S GRILL AND RESTAURANT

Before my family and I left for Cebu, I did some research to make sure no place would be left unvisited and no eatery or restaurant would be left untried. So as per OpenRice, one of the many places that was said to be popular was the Joven’s Grill in Capitol Site.

I’ve read that for only P99.00, we’d get to stuff ourselves with Filipino,

 Chinese and Japanese cuisines, and also get bottomless drinks with that. I thought it was great so I prepped my fellow excursionistas for our very 1st meal in Cebu.

When we got to Joven’s Grill, I soon learned that there has been a price increase. Their buffet price is now P188.00 per head. Ok, so it was not as cheap as we hoped but still "pasok sa budget" so we continued on.

When we went in, my first impression of the place was, it was a big

carinderia but with international cuisines. Joven’s Grill had arrays of all these colorful and hunger-inducing dishes which includes but not limited to Seafood

And for the drinks, we get to choose among Iced Teas and Fruit Juices.

After looking around and deciding which ones to try first, we then piled food after food onto our plates, and filled our glasses to the rim before we settled on our picnic-table clothed table. I got some Caifornia Maki, Salad, Siomai, Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Oysters, Fried Kangkong leaves, mashed egg yolk in egg whites and Pineapple Juice.

Now, for the moment of truth. On my first bite, all my excitement was replaced with dismay. It was not as tasty as it looked, everything was just a show. Each item on my plate was either salty or bland, and it's so fake! By this I mean the rice of the Maki was not the Japanese sticky rice and the Siomai was full of extenders. And the salad was only a pile of lettuce

leaves and slices of cucumber, no tomato at all.

Ok, maybe not everything was bad. I immensely liked the Sweet and Sour Pork and the Misua Soup. I went for thirds with these two. And I liked the

beverage too, it's not that artificial.
