MANILA, Philippines - A doctor who tried to play peacemaker between her parents was shot dead in Iloilo Saturday night, a radio report said early Monday.

ed Doctor Gretchen Licera, 32, died while undergoing treatment at the West Visayas State University Medical Center.

Licera was shot inside their home at Jalandoni Estate in the La Paz district in Iloilo City.

Initial investigation showed Licera tried to intervene when her father Gideon Licera, a seaman, drew a cal-.38 revolver during a spat with his wife.

The revolver went off, hitting Gretchen in the chest. The elder Licera has been arrested and is now detained at the La Paz police station, the report said.
