                                    THE SOUL SIREN ""NINA""

Softly, gently, I will let you down
Cause I don't love you in the same way now
I can hold you but not with lover's arms
Cause you are more of a brother to me now
And I can lie next to you, but I can't lie to you

So walk into the sun and watch me
Run into the rain,
For you the future's easy, so don't weep,
For me it's getting
Steep

I loved you for exactly who you are,
And I’d say you've come the nearest yet by far,

And I can lie next to you, but I can't lie to you

So walk into the sun and watch me
Run into the rain,
For you the future's easy,
So don't weep, for me it's getting

Steeper and in the dark
That's where I want to be
Deeper, I’m going somewhere
You won't want to see...

So walk into the sun and watch me
Run into the rain,
For you the future's easy, so don't weep
Yes I will watch you,
Walk into the sun and watch me
Run into the rain drops
For you the future's easy, so don't weep
For me it's getting steep

Story of Nina

Marifil Niña Girado is more popularly known as "Nina" in the Philippines. She is

one of the most outstanding Filipino pop singer, hailed as Soul Siren in Philippine Music history. She was born on November 1, 1980 in Pasay City but was raised in Quezon City,

Philippines together with 3 other siblings.

Not just a singer, she is a songwriter as well. Though she stands less than five feet,

her vocal ability can stand up a tidal wave. Her parents were Filbert, a Bayanihan Boy’s Choir and Maria Daulet who plays the piano. Her vocal training started when she was five, exercising her chords early in the morning while her body is being submerged in a drum of water.

As early as 17, she was one of the vocalists of X’s, a show band working the club circuit. She was then hired by Randy Santiago’s band, Big Thing and also became a member of MYMP group. Though a full time performer, she still manages her time for studies, taking up and indeed finished her studies with Accounting at Miriam College. She wanted to take up law but after she graduated, her view was changed and wanted to become a solo recording

artist.

Her discovery and her popularity among listeners are beyond imagination. She just submitted a demo tape of her own rendition of Foolish Heart to Warner Music Philippines. As the executives realize its potential, they immediately hired her without even seeing the woman behind the demo tape.

Nina released Heaven in 2002 together with her debut album of the same name, Heaven under Warner Music Philippines. 2nd Floor was sent as radio single to increase popularity and

boost album sales. Though the not commercially released, the track was rewarded as "Best

R&B Song" in 2003 Awit Awards. Another single, Jealous was released and became the first hit single to top the charts and gained more airplays. In the middle of 2003, Nina released another chart-topper hit, Foolish Heart. Her last single Loving You also achieved the top 10 position on charts. The re-release of the album gained a double platinum status.

It includes hits Talk To Me, the acoustic version of Jealous and Simula, Nescafe’s promo

single.

In late 2003, Nina again released her second album entitled Smile with its first single, Make You Mine. In 2004, she released A Girl Can Dream as her second single featuring "Christian Bautista" as her love pair in the video. Sayang Naman was the last single of the

album and the first Tagalog song released by Nina. The said album reached to Gold status.

I Don’t Want To Be Your Friend, was recorded on 2004. It was composed and written by

"Diane Warren", an award-winning composer. The song numbered 1 for eight weeks. Its version was included on the compilation Love Songs: Diane Warren.

Nina Live! album was released to public on year 2005 earning 8x Platinum status. Love Moves In Mysterious Ways, is the first single peaking the #1 position and became a monster

hit not only on 2005 but the entire 2000’s. The second single, Through The Fire, a Chaka Khan original also peaked number 1 for a week. Constantly was said to be the third single from the album and I Love You Goodbye was set to public as the fourth and the last single from the album. Nina also held its major concert entitled Nina Live! at the Araneta Coliseum. The Nina Live! DVD was being released at the end of 2005 including the video of I Don’t Want To Be Your Friend.

Goldilock’s Bakeshop decided to associate with Warner Music in releasing a single Araw Mo in its 40th Anniversary. The said jingle was to sung by Soul Siren herself.

In 2006, Nina decided to released a self-titled album, Nina due to the fact that she’s

already an artist and established her name in the hearts of the listeners. I Do was her

first single after Nina Live!. Someday was the next majoy hit for her. It was composed by

her sweetheart, "Nyoy Volante". I Didn’t Mean To Make You Mine was her third single.

The album is a certified Gold on April 2007 and ended in Platinum status.
