The Story of Jamie Rivera
Jamie Rivera is pop singer from the Philippines. Jamie was born on August 29 as Mary Jane C. Mendoza. She’s an alma mater of University of Santo Tomas with the degree of Economics.
She joined Metropolitan Theatre Chorus in 1985 where her actual training began. She won in the prestigious search for G.A. Yupangco’s Yamaha Music Mate Girls and decided to pursue her career in solo. Soon after, her first album Hey It’s Me was released under OctoArts International. Her first major concert was of the same name held at the Metropolitan Theatre.
She’s been active in singing since 1987. In her 18-year career as pop singer, Jamie transformed herself to an inspirational icon what she is now. She is the country’s one and only inspirational diva and was able to release nine inspirational albums. She engages into gospel, pop and OPM genres. Jamie does not limit herself to being a singer only but also a songwriter, actress and a producer.
Jamie was assigned to represent the Philippines in Japan’s Expo ’90 by the Department of Tourism. Japan’s Expo ’90 is an international exhibition of different talents held only every twenty years. On 1993, she represented the Philippines again in the 7th ASEAN Music Festival held in Brunei Darussalam.
She released several albums like: Feel So Right, OPM Timeless Collection Gold Series, Once More: Songs Of Love and Life, Second Thoughts, Pangako, Greatest Hits, Jamie Rivera, We Can Show The World, All Out For Love, Hey, It’s Me, Jubillee Song, The Purpose Driven Life and Jamie: At Her Best. All her albums were satisfactory when it comes to sales.
Jamie: At Her Best, a new pop album was released in celebration of her 18th anniversary in the business. The album marks another milestone in her career as a singer and a producer. Her Massive hits like “Hey It’s Me”, “Awit Para Sa’yo”, “Mahal Pa Rin Kita” and “I’ve Fallen For You” were included in the album. It was recorded and re-arranged to suit the preferences of the present market. The album also included her own rendition of “Will Of The Wind” and so with other new song “Pansinin Mo Naman Ako”.
Jamie worked with some of the country’s best musicians and arrangers to be suitable to the title of the album. Among them were Moy Ortiz, Arnold Buena, Cesar Aguas, Mon Espia, Arnold Jallores, Marvin Querido and Noel Mendez. As the over-all album producer, she herself supervised the production of the album.
”Hey It’s Me” is the first single of the ‘pop comeback’ album. The song was played over the radio stations nationwide. Its music video also gained attention on MYX and other music channels.
