ANGONO ARTS FESTIVAL

The festival aims at creating awareness and appreciation of Philippine Art and Culture; and promoting arts and culture as

vital attraction for local and foreign tourists. Rizal has the potential of becoming a tourist destination particularly in the field of

arts and crafts. It is known as the home of various national artists, musicians, and other equally creative artists.

Angono is a 1st class urban municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines and Angono, Rizal is Known as "Arts Capital of

the Philippines". It is located 30 kilometers east of Manila. According to the latest census, it has a population of 97,209

inhabitants in 15,740 households.

First created as a pueblo in 1766, Angono became a municipality in 1935.

Built up area

Albeit the growing population of Metro Manila, Angono remains a part of Rizal Province.

Culture

Angono is the hometown of two national artists, Lucio San Pedro for music and Carlos "Botong" Francisco for arts. One of

the public schools in Brgy. Mahabang Parang is named Carlos "Botong" V. Francisco National High School in honor of the

said artist. The town also boasts of other artists like Nemiranda, Perdigon to name a few. Around the town are artworks like

various sculptures.

Angono also boasts of several actors/actresses: Joey Hipolito, Freddie Reynoso and Zoraida to name a few.
