Who’s hungry? Do you go to restaurants in Cebu because of the food or because of the ambiance? Some dining holes in the city actually invest more on the interiors and furnishings and they always, always, show in the menu prices. Jackpot if you somehow find yourself somewhere in the middle of the city where you wouldn’t mind staying longer while you dine and truly enjoy the overpriced meal. Except Simply Js is not overpriced and yes, I wouldn’t mind staying longer until the restaurant showed signs of closing at 10pm and the waiters were all over our tables like vultures waiting to pounce on the next person who will say, “Check!”

Simply Js is right across Parklane Hotel and because you thought it was just a shop that sells furnitures, fashion accessories, jewelry like at www.povada.com, or crafty stuff, you will really missed the door that will show people dining inside. Again, this cute crafty-looking place, Country Classics, is right across Parklane Hotel. Lately, they have a new neon sign. How cute.

Of course, I arrived late and we were supposed to have dinner with Kaycee who was bound to leave Cebu for good in two days. If you think you will see food porn here, I hate to disappoint but the most I took shots of were of Mahala’s carbonara.

Funny anecdote. On their menu, I asked for dessert that says Coffee cream. Because I was expecting vanilla ice cream with coffee jell-o just like what the menu says it was, I ignored the waiter who shoved me a steaming cup of water with instant coffee sachets beside it. What was he thinking? Had he had told me the “dessert” coffee was unavailable, I would have saved him the trouble. Thank you, Audie, for taking my accidental order instead.
