MANILA, Philippines — A Zambales fisherman and his son died while the fishermans wife was in critical condition after they ate a cheap but potentially poisonous fish for dinner, a radio report said late Monday.
Radio dzXL reported that the victims, identified as Jimmy Santos, 55; and son Jimmy Jr., 8, died after feeling dizziness and stomach pains after eating the fish.
Santos wife Arsenia, 49, was reported in critical condition at the San Marcelino District Hospital.
The incident occurred at the familys house in Purok 1 in La Paz village in San Narciso town in Zambales, where the victims had butete" for dinner.
Doctors suspected the fish, which is potentially poisonous, may not have been skinned and cleaned properly before being cooked and served.
