The minimum fare for public utility jeeps and buses in Cebu and Central Visayas will now be P6.50, after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved a 50-centavo rollback.

Radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate reported LTFRB Chairman Alberto Suansing approved the 50-centavo rollback, amid claims by some groups of high costs of vehicle spare parts.

Suansing cited the lower prices of fuel products in approving the 50-centavo rollback for public utility vehicles in the region, the report said.

The LTFRB also reiterated students and senior citizens will be entitled to a 20-percent discount, or a P5.20 minimum fare.

* This is good news. It's high time that the LFTRB approved of the price rollback here in Central Visayas because the Gasoline prices have already been reduced, so it's only fair that they would also reduce the minimum price fare to 6.50 PHP. *
